Stoney Creek Rehabilitation Projects 2012

The Stoney Creek Restoration Project is in the final planning stage. We are using the $10,000 Hungerford Award, which Jennifer Atchison received and are applying for another grant from the Pacific Salmon Foundation. The Stoney Creek Environment Committee is working with DFO Habitat Restoration Branch, the City of Burnaby, Metro Vancouver, and other partners.

Project Objectives:

  1. To install 3 weirs between Beaverbrook Drive and Lougheed Highway to aid fish passage and provide some additional salmonid spawning habitat.
  2. To refurbish the inlet and outlet to reconnect an existing off-channel rearing habitat to Stoney Creek just south of the Lougheed Highway.

The work will take place in the first two weeks of August, 2102.
